The first issue of European Historical Game Studies is available in open access. Funded by the Faculty of History at the University of Gdansk<\/a>, it is one of the flagship initiatives developed under the Center for Historical Games and Heritage<\/a>.

EGHS is an international, non-profit, open-access, peer-reviewed journal of academic game studies. Its mission is to publish high-quality empirical and theoretical research on games on all platforms – digital and nondigital – as long as their themes include European histories and heritages.

The editorial team includes Micha\u0142 Mochocki 🔜 GIC Katowice<\/a> (Executive Editor), Yaraslau Kot 🔜 CGI,Lodz GIC Katowice<\/a> (Lead Editor for this issue), Jaroslav \u0160velch<\/a>, Sandra Camarda<\/a>, P\u00e9ter Krist\u00f3f Makai<\/a>, Jonathan Barbara<\/a>, Marie-Luise Meier, and Maciej Wojcieszak (Editorial Assistant).

The inaugural issue, “Ukrainian Games of War”, is connected to the annual Games of War conference hosted by the University of Gdansk<\/a> since 2024. They explore games created in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2014 and 2022. Contributors to EHGS 1(1)\/2026 include Aliaksandr Razhkou, Jagoda Ko\u015bcielniak<\/a>, Emilia Mazur, Kacper Karwacki, Anna Sroka<\/a>, Igor Kwasigroch<\/a>, Micha\u0142 Palm\u0105ka<\/a> and Yaraslau Kot 🔜 CGI,Lodz GIC Katowice<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
